Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-08-02 · Beta terms — will be revised before general availability.

1. Beta status

Postly ("Postly", "we", "us") is currently operated as a pre-revenue, private beta. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any service-level agreement (SLA), uptime guarantee, or warranty of any kind, express or implied. Features, pricing, and these Terms may change materially and without prior notice while in beta. You should not rely on Postly for any use where downtime, data loss, or feature changes would cause harm you are not prepared to accept.

2. What Postly is

Postly is a trust protocol for posting documents to a permanent address — a Postly Number. An organization ("Mailroom") claims a Postly Number; Senders post Envelopes (a document plus metadata) to that Number; every trust action on an Envelope is recorded on an append-only timeline. Print/mail delivery is one optional Carrier service on top of that record, not a requirement to use Postly.

3. Accounts and responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your account credentials confidential.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and organization, including actions taken by users you invite.
  • You must notify us promptly at hello@postly.now if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the documents and metadata you post as an Envelope.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Postly to:

  • Post, transmit, or store content that is unlawful, fraudulent, or infringes the rights of a third party;
  • Post unsolicited bulk material or spam to a Postly Number, or attempt to circumvent the Front Porch acceptance process;
  • Attempt to forge, misrepresent, or fuzzy-match a Postly Number, or otherwise interfere with the integrity of the Number checksum;
  • Probe, scan, or attempt to compromise the security or availability of the service;
  • Use the service to harass, defame, or impersonate any person or organization.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of this section, with or without notice, at our discretion.

5. The Envelope timeline is append-only

This is core to what Postly is, not an implementation detail: once an Envelope is posted, every trust event on it (acceptance, approval, delivery, receipt, dispute, etc.) is appended to a hash-chained timeline. Records are never silently altered or deleted — corrections, disputes, and retractions are themselves recorded as new events on the same timeline, not edits to history. By posting or receiving an Envelope you acknowledge that this permanence is the product, not a bug, and that Postly cannot remove or rewrite prior timeline entries on request except as required by applicable law.

6. Termination

You may stop using Postly and close your account at any time by contacting hello@postly.now. We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, for any reason, including breach of these Terms, non-payment, or discontinuation of the beta. On termination, the Envelope timeline for records already posted to your Postly Number is retained consistent with the permanence promise in Section 5 and our Privacy Policy, unless deletion is legally required.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Postly and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Because the service is provided during a no-SLA beta, our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid Postly, if any, in the three months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves, especially during the beta period referenced in Section 1. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of Postly after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
